Stuck In Overload And Finding A Way Out

Right now I must have about 20 different topics to write about…  And I think I have started four of them.  But I haven’t been able to pull the trigger.  Despite having so much to say, I find myself incredibly overwhelmed and emotionally drained all at the same time.

Sadly, this wasn’t the case just a mere three hours ago.

On the contrary, I had been waiting all day to connect with someone I consider to be a friend and colleague.  We haven’t known each other that long, but for me, there is a certain level of understanding and connection.  But more than anything, I find energy in connecting with certain people.  I haven’t always experienced the world this way…but I have recently learned that there are people who just naturally give off an energy or share their energy with you.  It’s almost contagious.

And whether or not you subscribe to the “Law of Attraction,” I hope you’ll believe that there is something about energy…

There is something about sharing a vibe with someone that can go right through you…  But most of all, there is something about having faith in what you want to believe is possible.

So What Just Happened?

Unfortunately there are also people and events in the world that can “suck” the energy right out of you.  You need to be aware of that, and recognize those moments.  Whether you are at the office, at home, or supporting your children, you need to know and help others know how to identify these moments.  But most importantly, sometimes you just need to walk away.

Energy…  Momentum…  Spirit…  Mood…

These are “things” that are easily influenced.

How Do You Get Out Of It?

One of the 20 posts I wanted to write tonight was about “putting your best foot forward.”  I wanted to go in many directions with this idea.  At the very heart of the matter, when you are feeling stuck…

Just do something!  Take action…

Do something to get yourself back into the momentum or flow of what you are most passionate about.  Do whatever you can to re-engage your brain, your heart, and your emotions back to that positive experience of life.

And sure, as I write this, I realize that it might be easier said than done.  But you know what, it just worked for me…

It may have taken a lot longer than I anticipated.  It may not have occurred or come across like I wanted, but taking action is a very important step towards making a change…  Taking action is an important first step!

Most Of All…

Knowing yourself and understanding what you need is the real key.  Part of me wanted to step away from my computer tonight.  Part of me wanted to just let go…  But I also knew that I needed to connect with someone…  To connect with my readers and share this experience.

Being overwhelmed is just about one of the worst places to be…  As sick as it sounds, there might even be times you want to be there.  It can happen.  But above all elseknow thyself!  Do what you need to do to get yourself out of feeling stuck and being overwhelmed.

Whether or not you have ADHD, none of us are immune to feeling overwhelmed.  Whether or not you are managing your own ADHD, or you have a child with ADHD, it’s NOT easy!

But You Can Beat It:

  1. Recognize It
  2. Respect It
  3. Name It
  4. Understand It
  5. Get Rid Of It

Again, the key here is really to take action!
